Sports & Deep Tissue Massage Swansea is the practice built by senior therapist Richard Clarke, a sports and exercise science graduate whose research has been published in two international medical journals.
The story
A practice built on study, research and time on the pitch
Richard Clarke holds an honours degree in sport and exercise science. That grounding in how the body moves and recovers has shaped the way he works ever since, and it is why his approach is about far more than simply pressing hard on a tight muscle.
His research on sports massage has been published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine and the International Journal of Sports Medicine, two of the most cited publications in the field.
Alongside his clinical work he has spent many seasons offering pitch-side support to professional rugby and football teams. Judging what an athlete needs in the minutes after a knock, and what can safely wait, is a skill that only comes from being there. He has also worked with national squads and age group sides, including Wales girls football and Swim Wales.
